Job Description
Overview: The Flight Engineer is responsible for operating/monitoring all aircraft engine and control systems while in flight and perform pre-flight and post-flight inspections. They accomplish many of the aerospace maintenance functions away from home that individual specialists would do at the home station.

Specific Tasks:
• Compute and apply aircraft weight, balance and performance data, and determine fuel consumption
• Operates and monitors engine and aircraft systems controls and indicators, that can include hydraulic, fuel, electronic, pneumatics, communication, navigation, radar and others
• Reports abnormal conditions to pilot and recommends corrective action
• Performs aircraft inspections
Requirements:
• For entry into the Flight Engineer career field, applicants must have prior qualification at the 5- or 7-skill level in the 1A0, 1A2, 1A3, 1A7, 2AXXX, or 2M0 career field ladder, or possession of a valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Flight Engineer certificate with a jet or turboprop rating, Private Pilot’s License, or valid FAA airframe and power plant (A&P) license and/or Aircraft Maintenance Technician license.
• Minimum Aptitude Score: General-57
• Must meet all medical examination and standards.
• Must meet and maintain physical fitness standards.
• Qualify for secret security clearance.
• Commit to a minimum 4 year commitment with the 357 AS.
• Commit to attend UTA’s, accomplish 15 days of Annual Tour and maintain semi-annual ground/flying training requirement. Also must commit to participate in unit deployments.
Training:
• Will be covered during interview.
• Technical Schools and initial training will take approximately one year.
