Job Description

The 130th Rescue Squadron at Moffett Federal Airfield, Mountain View, CA is be conducting a non-rated pilot board for the HC-130J Combat King II aircraft. The position is for a part-time, “traditional” guardsman. Applications must be submitted no later than 15 May 2017. We will conduct interviews for those selected the morning of Friday, June 2, 2017.

 

The primary mission of the 130th RQS is Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) which involves NVG low-level operations, helicopter air refueling, along with airdrops of Pararescue jumpers and their equipment. The unit participates in AEF rotations and does deploy overseas. We are based at Moffett Federal Airfield in the heart of Silicon Valley. Prerequisites:

  • U.S. citizen.
  • Able to obtain a security clearance.
  • Have or about to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree (in any subject)
  • Be under 28.5 years of age to ensure JSUPT will begin before age 30
  • Meet Air Force physical fitness standards
  • Live near Moffett Federal Airfield or commit to relocate to the area and be able to support yourself financially in the Bay Area.

 

Take care to consider our position in the Bay Area. Since all of our positions are traditional (part time), you need to be certain that you can support yourself (and your family, if applicable) in the local area. The cost of living here is extremely high. If you have family connections, currently live, have been accepted to a local university, or have job skills valued in the Bay Area be sure to note them in your resume or cover letter. Hired aviators will return after JSUPT to a part-time career. They will also need to come in more than the Guard’s “one weekend a month” perception to stay current. We expect our traditional members to be available to fly almost once a week to maintain currency.

Required documentation:

  1. Cover Letter containing information why you want to be a pilot with the 130th RQS in the Bay Area, current living location, contact info.
  2. Resume (include Date of Birth, detailing any flight time)
  3. College transcripts and overall GPA
  4. AFOQT score results (minimum scores are: Pilot 25, Nav 10, but must have a combined Pilot/Nav score of 50, Verbal score of 15 Quantitative score of 10)
  5. PCSM non-speculative (TBAS) score results
  6. Copy of any current military medical or FAA medical certificate
  7. Copy of any civilian aeronautical ratings/certificates, your total flight time, and the last page of your logbook
  8. Copy of your driver’s license
  9. Letters of recommendation (3 recommended)
  10. For prior military, your last: grade, 3 performance reports, USAF personnel RIP (Report of Individual Person), and DD214 (if applicable)
