Full-Time Mission Planning Training SME
Job Description
Support USAF Mission Planning Enterprise by developing and delivering training on mission planning software. Develops and maintains mission planning training syllabi and support materials in compliance with USAF Instructional Systems Development (ISD) procedures. Provides training as a platform instructor, both in local classes and off-station at unit locations.
Basic Duties
- Works with end users, USAF commands/agencies and software developers to identify mission planning training requirements for assigned aircraft/platforms
- Coordinates and works with USAF commands/agencies, software developers, testers, and end users for all of these programs as needed
- Creates training materials that satisfy mission planning requirements
- Provides training as a platform instructor, both in local classes and by traveling to USAF organizations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate of USAF or US Navy Weapons School and/or graduate of military academic instructor school or civilian equivalent are highly desired.
- 4 years instructional systems development, preferably in aviation, mission planning or related field required
- 4 years related military mission planning experience is highly desired
- 1 year of automated mission planning experience with PFPS, JMPS, or weapon delivery application desired
- Graduate of Undergraduate Pilot or Navigation Training desired
Skills:
- Requires comprehensive knowledge of the military aviation (primarily USAF) mission planning processes
- Must be familiar with the USAF development and test processes as they relate to software acquisition and instructional systems development processes
- Must understand the mission planning concepts and doctrine for all USAF flight mission areas to include weapons delivery, airdrop, and air refueling
- Requires the ability to conduct task-based classroom training for groups ranging from 1 to 20 people
- Must be familiar with and maintain current, basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems
Other Requirements
- Must pass drug testing
- U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED. Must be able to attain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance
- Must be able to obtain a Comp TIA Security + / DoD 8570 Level II Certification within 6 months of hire
- Travel requirements – Frequent travel required, usually with notice, but occasionally without notice
- Will be required to work outside of standard operating hours to complete training projects and support mission requirements
