Full-Time MQ-1/9 Pilot Instructor

Job Description

The MQ-1/9 instructor pilot is responsible for MQ-1/9 pilot training activities at Waco, TX. The instructor pilot is also responsible for all MQ-1/9 training elements assigned by site manager; this includes MQ-1/9 launch and recovery training, basic qualification training, and support to military and civilian crews for currency/proficiency training.

 Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains MQ-1/9 qualification and proficiency required to execute applicable training programs
  • Conduct MQ-1/9 flight activities in accordance with all governing directives
  • Maintains a high level of subject knowledge, instruction capability, and expertise
  • Conducts briefings and debriefings and counsels with aircrew members for the purpose of developing and maintaining a high level of proficiency
  • Performs administrative duties relative to training such as interfacing with using organization, record keeping, monitoring student progress, counseling, training development and maintenance of training programs
  • Provides inputs for courseware corrections and modifications and to update training policies and procedures

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

    • Ability to fluently read, write, speak and understand English
    • Ability to clearly relay information, both verbally and written, to others
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Working knowledge of instructional principles and theories pertaining to aircrew systems
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and software applications, such as, word processing, spreadsheets and databases
  • Possess a FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with an instrument rating
  • Ability to obtain SECRET Security Clearance           

Education and Formal Training:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree
  • FAA Class 2 medical certificate
  • Have (or be able to acquire) an MQ-1/9 aircraft instructor certification

             Experience:

  • Previously qualified MQ-1/9 pilot with at least 500 hours of PIC time in a MQ-1/9 aircraft
  • Launch and Recovery experience is highly desirable
  • Instructor experience is highly desirable
