Traditional Guardsmen Rescue Combat Systems Officer
The 130th Rescue Squadron regularly screens applicants to become a Rescue Combat Systems Officer in the HC-130J. We are part of the California Air National Guard and fly civilian and combat search and rescue. We are based at Moffett Federal Airfield in the heart of “Silicon Valley”. If your application is selected for further consideration, you will be invited for an interview. We look for several things when evaluating members. First, since all positions are traditional (part time), we need to be certain that you can support yourself (and your family, if applicable) in the local area. We do not accept applications from those who plan to commute to Moffett from beyond the Bay Area. If you have family connections, currently live, have been accepted to a university, or have job skills valued in the Bay Area be sure to note them in your cover letter. The cost of living in the local area is very high. Please also include any personal attributes which make you a good candidate and able to survive financially, i.e. young / single / minimalist / willing to share a studio apartment / live in a trailer or RV / or have a spouse who provides income. Also, to remain a current and qualified CSOs you must be available to contribute to the weekly flying schedule and fly at least twice a month not including drill weekends.
