Position Summary

The Mission Planning Systems (MPS) Support Specialist provides the flying squadron F-16 mission planning system operations support and file maintenance.  Squadrons of the 162nd Wing at Morris ANGB, Tucson, AZ. train both international and US F-16 pilots.  He/she will assist students and instructors in mission planning process supporting F-16 training in accordance with formal syllabus requirements.  He/she will be required to work occasional late shifts to support night flying operations and will support Saturday/Sunday of ANG drill weekends on a monthly basis.  Follow-on training may be required up to once per year. The mission planning system support specialists will be responsible for the squadron weapons and tactics officer for maintenance of the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) profiles, templates, data storage, and for assisting F-16 pilots with mission planning system operation when needed.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • The Squadron Weapons Office Mission Planning Systems Support specialist will work with the Squadron Weapons and Tactics Officer to:
  • Maintain the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) profiles, templates, and file storage configuration
  • Assist squadron assigned F-16 pilots and trainees with mission planning system operation when needed
  • Assist the Learning Center technicians and squadron Briefing Room Officers by ensuring squadron briefing rooms are properly configured, functional, and have all required briefing aids
  • On an as available and non-interference basis, assist the Brief/debrief specialist with assigned duties

REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Have Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II or Information Assurance Management (IAM)
  • Level I certification IAW DoD 8570.01 (Security+ certification)
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

 

Desired:

  • Familiarity in DoD mission aircrew brief/debrief operations and systems
  • Experience with USAF flight operations
  • Experience with international military and culturally diverse customers

 

Education, License, Credential Requirements:

  • BA or BS in Aviation, Computer Science or a comparable field (desired)
  • Secret Security Clearance (Interim Secret prior to start)
  • Be able to acquire a TS/SCI Security Clearance as position dictates

 

Experience:

  • Experience with a DoD military network
  • Experience with JMPS (desired)

 

Special Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated IT troubleshooting skills
