Traditional Guardsmen Undergraduate Pilot Training Candidate (UPT) (Commissioning Opportunity)

125th Fighter Wing, Jacksonville, FL – Posted by chris.rattigan Anywhere

Job Description

The Guard is a predominately part-time force; many of your pilots are “traditional” Guardsmen.  These traditional Guardsmen average eight sorties per month, participate in an additional day of academics, and may spend several days performing air defense alert.  Each year they will also take part in one or more deployments of 1-3 weeks.  Most of our traditional Guardsmen have full time employment as airline pilots.  We attempt to fill our UPT slot with an exceptionally well-qualified applicant who has the desire and aptitude to become an accomplished Eagle driver and unit leader.

The successful UPT candidate will incur a 10-year service commitment upon completion of UPT.  After completing UPT and F-15 training, the new pilot will be required to complete two years of full-time employment in order to build a base of experience.  After seasoning, the new pilot becomes a traditional, part-time, Drill Status Guardsman (DSG).  Drill Status Guardsmen may be directed to Active Duty in times of national need.  Many DSG’s are currently activated in the 125th Fighter Wing and throughout the Air National Guard.
