Full-Time Training Squadron Scheduler

Job Description

Position Summary

The Training Squadron Scheduler programs USAF F-16 pilot training events in support of formal syllabus training, and works closely with the flying squadron and maintenance representatives to develop medium and short range flying schedules. The Training Squadron scheduler will be assigned to flying squadron programming duties by the Site Manager. Scheduling products are reviewed and approved by the appropriate ANG representative prior to publication. The scheduler will be available to accept inputs during duty hours coordinated with and agreed to by the local contract monitor.

Required:

  • Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic, high stress, scheduling atmosphere with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Aptitude and ability to arrange multiple, interdependent events to form a schedule of flying and training requirements
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Experience with USAF or ANG flight training programs
  • Familiar with ANG Patriot Excalibur (PEX) and Graduate Training Integration Management System (GTIMS)
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite to include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint

Preferred:

  • Experience with ANG or USAF F-16 FTU flight training programs and syllabi
  • Experience with Air Force or Air National Guard aircrew scheduling
  • Familiar with fighter aircraft stores configurations for flight operations
  • Familiar with Microsoft SharePoint

Education, License, Credential Requirements:

  • Associate degree, BA or BS in Aviation Science or a comparable field (desired)
  • Secret Security Clearance (Interim Secret prior to start)

Job Responsibilities

  • Developing training schedules in accordance with applicable syllabi to ensure prerequisites are accomplished, correct configurations are assigned, and proper ranges are scheduled for syllabus missions for the one- to three-week plan
  • Flowing the weekly schedule including student and upgrading instructor pilot requirements
  • Providing scheduling continuity during the changeover of ANG personnel
  • Attending the Operations/Maintenance meeting, Flight Commander (FLT/CC) Scheduling meeting, and other meetings as required to discuss and resolve scheduling issues
  • Preparing the following week simulator requests
  • Adjusting current week student schedules as necessary to ensure that student training continues uninterrupted and in proper sequence
  • Providing recommendations for the current schedule required by student non-progression, maintenance problems, and unscheduled absences and providing contractor-acquired property and changes to meeting schedules, etc.
  • Reviewing and coordinating all changes to the following week’s flying schedule with maintenance in accordance with local directives
  • Reviewing the following week’s draft academic schedule and reporting any errors in accordance with the Scheduling Operating Procedure
  • Preparing and maintaining student training progress boards (manual or electronic)
  • Act as back-up to the other individual flying squadron contract scheduler as needed
  • Provide scheduling continuity during the changeover of ANG personnel
